Professor Rodrigo Mencalha
A fan of the NBA and the stock market, father of Maria and Raul, a daily exerciser and passionate about health and well-being, he is one of the leading experts in chronic pain in dogs and cats in Brazil. He holds a Postgraduate Degree in Pain from the Albert Einstein Israelite Institute and completed all his academic training (undergraduate, master's and doctorate) at UFRRJ.
He has worked for almost 20 years in higher education in the areas of teaching, research and outreach, and is passionate about teaching and continuing education in veterinary medicine. Currently, he is the Scientific Coordinator of the Brazilian School of Veterinary Medicine.
Founder of the Pain-Free Veterinary Institute and the Pain-Free Veterinary Project, the largest virtual training program in pain management for dogs and cats in Brazil (a training program that includes more than 700 veterinarians).
Author of two books on chronic pain in dogs and cats, he has national and international recognition in the field.
Full member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the Brazilian Society for the Study of Pain.
